Better cafe search starts with better filters

USEO built Caff.io as a searchable platform for discovering and rating cafes, combining advanced filters, maps, detailed venue profiles, and community reviews.

1,000+ cafes in the database
500+ daily active users using the platform
100+ new reviews per month
25 % user growth in the first 6 months

What we did in this project

  • Advanced filtering system for cafe search
  • Interactive maps for location-based discovery
  • Detailed venue profiles with ratings and comments
  • Interface design for browsing, filtering, and rating cafes
  • Community features based on user reviews and participation

Project Overview

Caff.io is a platform for finding and rating cafes based on specific criteria such as Wi-Fi, noise level, atmosphere, coffee type, and other practical filters. The product was designed for coffee lovers and people looking for places to work or meet.

The Problem

The market lacked a dedicated platform for cafe discovery built around specific user needs. Existing services did not provide detailed enough filters or location features for users who cared about practical criteria, not just generic venue listings.

The main gaps were:

  1. No detailed filters for remote work and meeting-related needs.
  2. No easy way to search by practical features such as Wi-Fi, sockets, noise level, atmosphere, or coffee type.
  3. Limited support for location-based discovery through interactive maps.

The Solution

We built the product around how users actually choose cafes. That meant structured filtering, map-based discovery, venue detail, and community input.

01

Search based on real decision criteria

We created a filtering system that let users search by details such as coffee type, bike racks, vegan options, child-friendliness, alcohol availability, and other criteria.

02

Map-based cafe discovery

We integrated interactive maps so users could find cafes nearby on desktop and mobile.

03

Better venue evaluation through richer profiles

We created detailed cafe profiles with descriptions, opening hours, images, ratings, and user comments. This gave users enough information to compare venues before visiting.

04

Community contribution built into the product

We added review and rating features that encouraged user participation and helped grow the data set over time.

"

A great search engine for nearby cafes. The database of venues could be bigger, but we still get a lot of useful information.

Business Benefits

A growing, active user base

The platform reached 500+ daily active users and 25% user base growth in the first 6 months.

Content generated by the community

Users add more than 100 cafe reviews per month, which supports platform freshness and usefulness.

A usable discovery database

The platform reached a database of more than 1,000 cafes, giving users enough breadth to search with detailed filters.

Further development

The roadmap includes expansion to new markets, mobile apps, personalization features, and new partnerships and integrations.
